Tooth Whitening
Tooth whitening has been successfully provided, as a routine cosmetic treatment at this practice for the past five years. During this time we have constantly sought ways to develop our techniques and improve our methods to deliver a quality long lasting treatment.
Our latest method involves a "combination technique" adopting a deep bleach protocol.
Studies show this to be the safest and most effective with the most predictable outcomes to establish a permanent whitening result with little maintenance required.
What Actually Is It?
Custom made trays ( mouth guards ) are made to fit your teeth and worn at home ( usually at night ) for two to three weeks. Following this, a one hour in-surgery treatment is undertaken utilising a photo-sensitive gel and a specialised dental light.
The systems used in this practice are Aquabrite / Aquaseal ( Aquamed Technologies ), Denmat / Rembrandt in-surgery tooth whitening and Denmat / Sapphire light assisted tooth whitening.
Is It Safe?
Tooth whitening is completely safe as it a non-invasive technique.
The gels used are "buffered and neutral" ( ie. do not contain acids or alkalies that may damage your teeth ).
The mechanism involved allows oxygen to be released which progressivly permeates the tooth structure which is then safely oxidised and subsequently lightened.
Not Suitable For?
The above techniques will not lighten existing crowns, veneers or dentures, however, used in combination with composite resing bonding techniques to treat these areas, most people can achieve an all over and consistent whitening of their smile.
Benefits
Tooth whitening is a safe, predictable and proven treatment which can significantly improve your smile.
